The book contains stories that are the wizarding world equivalents of Grimms fairy tales for Muggles. They were well-known stories to Ron and other kids brought up in wizarding society, but were unknown to Harry and Hermione, who were brought up by Muggles.  In the book Deathly Hallows, Dumbledore leaves a copy of the book to Hermione in his will.

 

The book being published in December refers to the stories that Ron mentioned when he talked about the book. If you want to read about the book and the stories in it, you can go here:
