beat the wand itself but he defeated the wand's current owner. The
wand recognizes power, right? It gives its allegiance to the
strongest, the most powerful. And I believe that the Elder wand's
might will also depend on it's owner's power. The extent of what the
wand is able to do depends on it's owner's knowledge. Let's say,
Dumbledore and Neville would perform the same spell, using the same
Elder wand. Who do you think would yield the better result. The answer
is pretty obvious, isn't it? Of course, Dumbledore would be able to
create a better magic, even though Neville used the same unbeatable wand.
I think that's what happened to Gellert and Albus. Taken that they're
both powerful and both are very brilliant. It all comes down to who
was better. We might never know the exact scenario during the duel.
There's lots and lots of possibilities. Dumbledore might be quicker,
and though Gellert was holding the more powerful wand, he might have
reacted late, thus, failed to defend himself. Or Dumbledore might have
used psychology to weaken Gellert's resolve. I can think of many
scenes but it all ends in Dumbledore being the better duel master.
Dumbledore won the duel. The wand recognized him as master...He won
the wand.
