Griphook took away the sword of gryffindor but how then Neville could get it from the sorting hat?Does it mean that, whoever takes the sword, but it can be tugged out from the hat by a true gryffindor when seriously needed?
In Deathly Hallows, Griphook contended that Godric Gryffindor stole the sword from its true owners, the goblins. Goblins believe that the maker of an object is its true owner, not the one who possesses it.
But, Neville was able to pull the sword from the Sorting Hat in order to kill Voldemort's snake Nagini, just as Harry was able to when he killed the Basilisk in Chamber of Secrets. According to JKR, these events establish that Godric Gryffindor was the true owner of the sword and that the goblins are wrong about him, and perhaps about true ownership of an object.
