[Bookroom] Best first edition manuals

Can anyone recommend what is the best guide for telling if a book is a
first edition or not? I'm not a heavy-duty bookseller by any means but
sometimes we sell extra "finds" from library sales, and I don't know
how to tell if something is a first edition. Is there an easy way
without spending a lot of money?
