[Bookroom] For the Love of Literature

I love this group and have been a member for al long time now. I'm afraid
that I don't post as often as I should, instead lurking and gleaning your wisdom.

I hope it's okay to mention on this list a book I had published last
December. It's For the Love of Literature: Teaching Core Subjects With Literature.
It's really not much more than a glorified reading list, but I think it's a
pretty cool glorifed reading list :-).

There are short chapters on how to go about teaching with real books (and
scrapping those textbooks), using your library, Charlotte Mason, classical ed,
unit studies, etc. But the bulk of the book is the reading list of 950 books.
Each book title has a 2-3 sentence description and is coded for grade level. The
list is sorted by school subject: Math, Science, Art, Music, History.

I should forewarn you that the book does have a Catholic Christian ethos to
it. My Protestant friends tell me that it's still useful to them and they love
it. But that could just be because they love me and my friendship :-).
