[Bookroom] File - Posting to Bookroom!!

Welcome! I'm glad you've joined us in The Bookroom for homeschooling families!

Please read and keep this message. It contains important policy information that you will be expected to know.

I. LIST TOPIC

The Bookroom is home to well over 1000 busy homeschooling families; we are all here to discuss LIVING BOOKS (as well as audios, videos, and games) and their use in homeschooling. Because our list is large, it is required that ALL POSTS be on-topic.

A Living Book or resource is one that engages the mind, inspires the imagination, and thrills the heart--it gives an interested reader *pleasure* as well as information.

Anything that relates to Living Books and a living homeschool education is on topic for our list. We discuss great books, interesting and profitable book-buying excursions, delightful videos and audios, educational toys, teaching methods, learning styles, and more. We welcome book reviews, Living Book questions, notices of helpful web sites and catalogs, reviews of living literature curriculum guides, shelving suggestions, book repair questions, and more!

II. SCREENING AND EDITING

To keep the list friendly and on-topic, ALL Bookroom submissions are screened by one of the moderators. Inappropriate posts are deleted without notice or explanation.

The following *will* be deleted:
A. Political discussion, even if it is homeschooling-related
B. Debate
C. Anti-christian, hateful, angry, rude, or filthy writing
D. Miscellaneous chit-chat
E. "Great post" or "thanks for the suggestions" comments--please send these privately
F. Textbook-based curriculum questions
G. Discussion of institutional schooling, public or private
H. Legal questions, including copyright issues See http://www.loc.gov/copyright/
I. Requests for information unrelated to *Living Books homeschooling* Please do your own web searches; don't ask our members to do your work for you!
J. Lists of items for sale or wanted to buy (WTB) ads
K. Requests for Internet, computer, or web-site instruction or trouble-shooting
L. Virus warnings unless they include a RELEVANT LINK to a LEGITIMATE virus protection provider (Symantec, McAfee, Norton, etc.)
M. Forwards unrelated to Living Books, no matter how cute, funny, or interesting they are

I will also sometimes delete short answers to an uncomplicated question after I believe the question has been adequately answered by another member. This helps keep traffic manageable.

Posts may be EDITED by the moderator. This is very rare and always noted in the post. Occasionally I will remove off-topic information from an otherwise excellent post before I send it to the list. Rarely I will insert [Moderator Comments]. I will also clip excessive quoting.

There have been times when I have deleted a post in error so if you don't see a post of yours and believe that it is appropriate for the list, please feel free to resubmit it.

Because this list is moderated, expect a delay between the time you send your message and the time it appears on the list. (List traffic is generally non-existant on Sundays.)

III. COPYRIGHT

Full copyright on all messages posted to The Bookroom is retained by each individual author. Forwarding Bookroom E-Mail to others outside the group or publishing it in any way whatsoever is a violation of copyright *unless* you request and receive written permission *from the author* for each instance of forwarding.

We will never sell or publish anything you write here without your permission. Forwarding or publication without permission will result in unsubscription and banning.

With very few exceptions, submissions to the Bookroom should be your own original writing. If a piece of *on-topic* writing is appropriate for submission, but was written by another person, you must have that person's permission before submitting their work to this forum. You must also state this clearly with your submission.

IV. ADVERTISING

This list was not created to provide free advertising for businesses. People who join solely to spam this list will have their ads deleted and their memberships revoked. The members will never hear from you.

IMHO, the *best* way to advertise your business is to take an active, interesting part in the flow of conversation--and keep your web site addresses in a signature at the end of each post.

Only *active members* may advertise, but this is on a limited basis, as follows:

A. Any member who posts online auctions is free to send us a link to his or her OWN auctions, a maximum of one notice per week or per auction cycle, whichever is less. Without prior approval from the moderator, please DO NOT give any notice of auctions other than your own. (Notices for auctions other than your own will be deleted.)

B. Members who sell new or used *LIVING BOOKS AND LIVING EDUCATIONAL SUPPLIES* (including authors) are welcome to post a brief business ad once upon joining and then once every three months. Whether you sell from a web site, a print catalog, or an E-Mail list, our members will want to be familiar with your business and what you offer!

C. Members who run other Yahoogroups appropriate for *LIVING BOOKS* homeschooling families are permitted to mention this no more often than once every three months.

D. IN ADDITION to these ads, business members WHO HAVE PRIOR APPROVAL FROM THE MODERATOR, are welcome to advise the members whenever they run special sales or make *major* additions to their web sites.

E. ALL business members are encouraged to provide the URL for their businesses (web sites or E-Mail lists) in a *brief* signature file following each of your posts. If you sell Living Books, this is especially appreciated by our members and would be very helpful for your business; if you sell Tupperware or Discovery Toys or Mary Kay, you may include this information in your signature file as well.

Lists of items for sale, trade, or wanted to buy are not permitted here.
